Finance minister reviews budget 2017 preparations

The Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has presided over a high level meeting to review the preparations of budget by the Federal Board of Revenue.

The special assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan on Revenue, Mr. Haroon Akhtar, and Secretary Finance, FBR chairperson, Secretary Economic Affairs Division as well as some other senior officials of the Ministry were present in the meeting.

The chairperson of FBR briefed the meeting that budget workout which had been started on February 1 st , 2017 was now in complete swing.

He said that in accordance along with the directions of Finance minister, widespread interaction had been carried out along with the shareholders from all regions of the economy.

He said that the tax relevant to the proposals as well as suggestions collected from these shareholders was being examined fully for addition in the budget.

He furthermore added that the work in this regard was in the final phases.

The meeting attendees was also informed regarding the state of revenue collection as of May 2017 and the FBR chairperson provided a complete account of the efforts being made to accomplish the revenue target for the present year.

Finance Minister while appreciating the hard work of the FBR, underscored that the officials of the board must focus all their vitalities to accomplish the revenue target during the remainder of the financial year.

He instructed the FBR to confirm that the policy of a friendly and cooperative attitude towards tax payers must continue as well as maximum facilitation must be guaranteed.

He also ordered the FBR to make sure that such a policy is also surrounded in the tax suggestions for the next financial year that is 2017-2018.
